It seems some folk are unaware they could be doing music reviews of their favourite band, venue, intruments or other stuff. So over the next few weeks i will do a few posts showing how to add videos, images and even links to your facebook page or music website
Ok lets get started, to start writing a blog you go up top and click on the Blogs link just under the forum logo
Once the page opens up you will see existing blogs, up top to the right their is a link 'create a new post' click on it and your on your way !
Give your blog a title and then start writing, however if you wish to insert an image or video you need to click on either of the icons which are like the small role of film ( videos) or the picture frame (images) and the blue earth with a chain link for website links
Hover the cursor over the icon and click then a dialogue box opens up, you will need to cut and past the video address/url in the box then click save
Next is the option to insert a picture/image which is also done via clicking on an icon (picture frame) after that a dialogue box opens up offering a choice between computer and url which would be for hosted pictures from places like photobucket, although i have only used pics from my computer which a jpeg images.
So i click 'from computer' option then click the 'basic uploader' which then offers the option to 'browse' which once clicked will take you to your computer and from there you can insert one of your saved images
After selecting the desired image you then click 'upload image' in the past i have discovered it can take one two attempts to succeed but eventually you get there and have picture in your blog, perhaps your bands pic ??
To insert a link , maybe to your bands myspace page ? Once again you click on an icon (blue earth) and form there you either cut and paste a link into the box or you type in the link using www. at the beginning
After a few goes you are an expert and can have a quality blog that tells the world about you music reviews, band reviews and venue reviews or perhaps something else related to the music or arts , such as your business or product
Blogging is a better way than facebook because your story stays visible as opposed to facebook where once off the page your words may never be seen again !
It's a free resource and we encourage you to take advantage
I have also discovered it is not a 'perfect world' so what i do is when i do a blog is copy the document to a word document and that way if the internet has dropped out or i took too long and was logged out at the forum i can simply logon again and copy it back to the blog
I have been caught out a couple of times but now when i do this it makes life better
I hoping some of you will take some videos and put them on yourtube and then post them in the blog ........ tell us about your favorite band ....... then show us your favorite band via video
